Getting Started with Trezor Wallet

Trezor is a hardware wallet developed by SatoshiLabs that allows you to store your cryptocurrency securely offline. Here's how to set it up.

What You Need

  • A Trezor hardware wallet (Model One or Model T)
  • USB cable (included with device)
  • Computer or mobile device with internet access
  • Trezor Suite app (official wallet interface)

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

1. Unbox and Verify

  • Open the packaging carefully and ensure that the security seal is intact.
  • Do not use the device if the seal is broken or the box appears tampered with.

2. Visit the Official Website

  • Go to: https://trezor.io/start
  • Download Trezor Suite for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

3. Install and Launch Trezor Suite

  • Install the software you downloaded.
  • Open Trezor Suite and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Connect Your Trezor Device

  • Plug the device into your computer using the USB cable.
  • Trezor Suite will detect your device.

5. Install Firmware (if needed)

  • If this is your first time using the device, you may need to install firmware. Follow the prompts in Trezor Suite.

6. Set Up a New Wallet

  • Choose “Create new wallet.”
  • Trezor will generate a recovery seed phrase (12 or 24 words).
  • Carefully write down the seed phrase on the recovery card provided. Do not store this online or take a photo of it.

7. Confirm Your Recovery Phrase

  • Trezor Suite will ask you to confirm a few of the words to ensure you’ve written them correctly.

8. Set a PIN Code

  • Choose a secure PIN on the device to prevent unauthorized access.

9. Start Using Your Wallet

  • After setup, you can send and receive supported cryptocurrencies.
  • You can also add multiple accounts, label them, and track your portfolio via Trezor Suite.

Important Security Tips

  • Never share your recovery phrase with anyone.
  • Only download software from the official Trezor website.
  • Consider using a metal backup for your seed phrase for added durability.
