
Getting Started with Trezor Wallet
Trezor is a hardware wallet developed by SatoshiLabs that allows you to store your cryptocurrency securely offline. Here's how to set it up.
What You Need
- A Trezor hardware wallet (Model One or Model T)
- USB cable (included with device)
- Computer or mobile device with internet access
- Trezor Suite app (official wallet interface)
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
1. Unbox and Verify
- Open the packaging carefully and ensure that the security seal is intact.
- Do not use the device if the seal is broken or the box appears tampered with.
2. Visit the Official Website
- Go to: https://trezor.io/start
- Download Trezor Suite for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
3. Install and Launch Trezor Suite
- Install the software you downloaded.
- Open Trezor Suite and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Connect Your Trezor Device
- Plug the device into your computer using the USB cable.
- Trezor Suite will detect your device.
5. Install Firmware (if needed)
- If this is your first time using the device, you may need to install firmware. Follow the prompts in Trezor Suite.
6. Set Up a New Wallet
- Choose “Create new wallet.”
- Trezor will generate a recovery seed phrase (12 or 24 words).
- Carefully write down the seed phrase on the recovery card provided. Do not store this online or take a photo of it.
7. Confirm Your Recovery Phrase
- Trezor Suite will ask you to confirm a few of the words to ensure you’ve written them correctly.
8. Set a PIN Code
- Choose a secure PIN on the device to prevent unauthorized access.
9. Start Using Your Wallet
- After setup, you can send and receive supported cryptocurrencies.
- You can also add multiple accounts, label them, and track your portfolio via Trezor Suite.
Important Security Tips
- Never share your recovery phrase with anyone.
- Only download software from the official Trezor website.
- Consider using a metal backup for your seed phrase for added durability.
